September 7 - Working From Photographs

Most artists paint from photographs of places they have been. Nonetheless, photographs are notorious for not providing information that is available if a painting is done on location (plein air). Learn how to go from a photograph to a painting, and how to approach the challenges in doing so.

Linda Jenetti will also discuss different techniques to increase and improve an individual’s style. Emphasis will be on composition, depth, form, content and overall execution. And lots of time to paint and practice. The day will begin with a brief informal lecture and demonstration, very motivating and opening up new and fresh possibilities within your painting practice. There will be on-going individual critiques and guidance.

The workshop is primarily directed to oil painting but other media are welcome. Bring some of your own photographs for use in the workshop.
